I had 3.5 lbs of chicken wings to use up. Love how quick, easy and tasty this was. I did this stovetop using about 1.25-1.5x the amount of sauce for this recipe. Also added a little five spice powder. It was a little tough to get the chicken all covered in the sauce and definitely had to flip to make sure it was evenly coated. Thanks for the recipe!

I used 1.5 kgs chicken wings and used only 1 cup of soy sauce ( didn't have dark soy sauce) and added a dash of mixing, it turns out so beautifully that I'm getting massive compliments from my hardest critics- the kids! I doubled the cooking time to 10 mins pressure cooker and natural release for 30 mins. This recipe is a keeper! Thank you

This was delicious! I made this in a regular pot, for 20 minutes covered and on a low simmer after bringing to boil.

To make it crispy can you broil it for a little and use remaining sauce in pot to coat as well?

If you want to make it crispy, I will use other methods to cook it like pan fry, bake or air fry them. But, you can use the sauce to marinate the chicken wings overnight.

I tweaked the recipe a little.. I added 1 cup water to half cup soy sauce.. replaced brown sugar with three tbs of pure honey.. used 600 grams of chicken and it turns out great~~~ the soy sauce in Taiwan is too saltish, thus the 1 cup to half portion.. 🙂

You can cook them over the stove. Turn on medium high fire, add sesame oil, garlic and ginger. Stir fry them a little bit. Add chicken wings and the sauce. Let it cook until it’s boiling. Then, turn the fire to small and simmer for 15-20 mins depending on the size of the chicken wings or legs. (Try to flip them while simmering.)
