Couverture chocolate:
Couverture chocolate contains a higher percentage of cocoa butter, which gives it a smoother texture and allows it to melt more evenly. Also, couverture chocolate is favored by many professional chocolatiers for its superior taste and texture. It's available in dark, milk, and white varieties. Typically, it comes in large blocks or small discs that are easy to melt.
Chocolate melting wafers:
Chocolate melting wafers is also known as candy melts or confectionery coating. They are specially formulated to melt smoothly and harden quickly without tempering. They are convenient to use and come in a wide range of flavors and colors, including milk, dark, white, and various flavors like caramel and mint. Besides, home bakers and decorators like to use chocolate melting wafers.

How do I melt chocolate for dipping strawberries?
You can try or use the following double boiler, microwave, chocolate melting pot or oven methods to melt chocolate for dipping or coating.
Double boiler method:
Fill a saucepan with 3 cups of water and bring it to a simmer. Then, place a heatproof bowl on top of the pot. Make sure the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water. Next, add the chocolate chips into the bowl and stir it occasionally until it melts completely and becomes smooth.
Microwave method:
Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Then, microwave the chocolate chips in short intervals, typically 15-30 seconds at a time. Take it out and stir it between each interval. Continue microwaving and stirring until the chocolate is melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate because it can burn easily.
Chocolate melting pot:
Besides, you can use a chocolate melting pot, which is designed specifically for melting chocolate. Simply follow the manufacturer's instructions to melt the chocolate.
Oven method:
You can preheat your oven to low setting 200°F or 93°C. After that, place the chocolate in an oven safe bowl or dish and place it in the oven. Allow the chocolate to melt slowly. Keep checking and stirring it frequently to prevent burning.
Should I wash the strawberries before dipping them in chocolate?
Yes, it's essential to wash strawberries to remove any dirt, pesticides, or residue. Then, dry the strawberries thoroughly before dipping them into the melted chocolate.
What temperature should strawberries be before dipping in chocolate?
The ideal temperature for strawberries before dipping them in chocolate is slightly chilled but not frozen between 40°F (4°C) and 45°F (7°C) which is a typical refrigerator temperature.Cold strawberries are firmer. Therefore, making it easier to handle and less likely to fall apart when dipped in chocolate.
Also, it helps the melted chocolate to set more quickly and results in a smoother coating and prevents it from sliding off the strawberries. Bedises, the chilled strawberries can help prevent the chocolate from melting too quickly which can lead to a messy dipping process and uneven coating.
Therefore, it is good to allow the strawberries to chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to 1 hour before dipping them in chocolate to achieve the best results. If they are too cold or frozen, allow them to sit at room temperature for a few minutes before dipping to avoid any condensation on the surface.
How long should I let the chocolate covered strawberries set before serving?
The best is to allow the chocolate covered strawberries set at room temperature or in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to 1 hour until the chocolate is firm.

Absolutely! You can decorate them with drizzles of contrasting chocolate, chopped nuts, sprinkles, or edible glitter for added flavor and presentation. In this chocolate covered strawberries recipe, I mainly drizzle the melted chocolate as topping decorations.
What are the ingredients for chocolate dipped strawberries?
In this chocolate covered strawberries recipe, all you need are fresh strawberries and chocolate chips.
I used milk chocolate chips (23 oz) and white chocolate chips (11 oz). Also, 2 pounds of strawberries. I make around 13 white cocoa coated strawberries and 18 milk cocoa coated strawberries.
The average bag of 23 oz chocolate chips can make 25-30 coated strawberries depending on the size of the strawberries.
How long does chocolate covered strawberries last?
It is best to consume them the same day. However, when you put them in the refrigerator it can last for 1-3 days. Sometimes, it can last a little bit longer. Inspect the strawberries to see if it is safe to eat after refrigerating for more than 3 days. If the chocolate has fallen off or the tops of the strawberries appear mushy, you will probably want to toss them.
How to store chocolate dipped strawberries?
Refrigerator:
Line the container with parchment paper or wax paper to prevent the strawberries from sticking together. Also, avoid stacking the strawberries on top of each other, as this can cause them to become misshapen. Then, refrigerate and store the chocolate dipped strawberries in an airtight container.
Freezer:
Place the chocolate dipped strawberries on the baking sheet, then freeze them for about 30 minutes to an hour or until they are firm. Once the coated strawberries are firm, transfer them to a freezer-safe container or resealable plastic bag. Try to remove as much air as possible from the container or bag before sealing it to prevent freezer burn.
When you're ready to enjoy the chocolate-covered strawberries, remove them from the freezer and let them thaw in the refrigerator for a few hours or overnight. Besides, avoid thawing them at room temperature because this can cause the strawberries to become mushy and the chocolate to become sweaty.
