    What are dumpling wrappers?

Chinese dumpling wrappers are white and often in a circle. Some people like to buy them from the store because it's convenient. However, some like to make them at home. Also, it can be used for pan fried potstickers, steam and boiled dumplings.

    My family homemade dumpling wrappers:

In my childhood memory, I remembered my mom and aunts made homemade dumplings all from scratch. This is because they have to feed a lot of people, especially on Chinese New Year.

They started early in the morning to make the dough for wrappers and wrapped dumplings. Then, they boiled the dumplings. If you are looking for an authentic homemade boiled dumplings recipe, here is the one.

Homemade dumpling wrapper is simple and easy. However, it is quite a work and time consuming. The advantages of making dumpling wrappers from scratch is that you can make it anytime and don't have to run to the store for the wrappers.

Cooking tips for how to make homemade potsticker wrappers:

    • Remember to use hot boiling water.
    • I use a jar lid to cut the wrappers. In fact, you can use anything that is circle shaped like a cup will work as well.
    • Before using the potsticker wrappers, I recommend rolling them again to flatten out and make it thinner. Hence, it will help you wrap the dumplings better.
    • Double the recipe if needed because this amount makes around 38 wrappers.

    FAQs:

    Can you buy dumpling wrappers?

Yes, of course there are potsticker wrappers in a pack and often sell them in Asian grocery stores.

Are wonton and dumpling wrappers the same thing?

No, they are not the same thing, but very similar. Wonton wrappers are yellow and thinner. On the other hand, potsticker wrappers are often in white and a little thicker.

How long do potsticker wrappers last?

If you buy them from a store in a package when it is open, it lasts around 2-3 days in the refrigerator. However, homemade potsticker wrapper will dry out faster and recommend using them the same day.
