    Asparagus is a classic vegetable among Western cuisine. Also, Asians like to use it for stir frying dishes with meats and seafood. There are a few different ways to cook asparagus, such as boiling, roasting, baking and stir frying. Besides, asparagus is great to serve as a vegetable side dish for a meal or party gathering because it tastes good and simple to cook.

    What are the ingredients for asparagus stir fry?

    In this simple and easy asparagus stir fry recipe, I used simple ingredients that  you can find at home easily. The ingredients are asparagus, water, vegetable oil, salt and garlic powder.

    Cooking tips for how to cook asparagus: 

    • I like to pick asparagus that is thin and slim because it is faster to cook and tastes better in texture. If your asparagus is bigger and thicker, I suggest you cut it into half and cook the lower part first, then add the top part for stir frying. 
    • Cut the bottom part of asparagus, it’s white part because it is hard and tastes a little bit bitter. Therefore, I usually cut a little more off. 
    • Add some water into the pan and cover the lid for 1-2 minutes. Then, stir fry them a little bit. Remember, don’t over cook them. Greenish and a little bit soft at the lower stems is a good indicator for readiness.

    3. Pour 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil into the pan and turn on medium fire.

    4. Then, put the washed and cut asparagus from step 2 into the pan.

    5. After that, add ¼ teaspoon of salt, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir fry them a little.

    6. Cover the lid for 1-2 minutes.

    7. After opening the lid, stir fry them a little and it is ready to serve.
