Braised means cooking food slowly and simmering. A lot of Chinese dishes use this technique to cook food. Also, braised bamboo shoots are a classic and authentic Chinese cuisine.

Northern China such as Sichuan like to cook bamboo shoots with chili oil or spicy sauce. Some people like to braise pork belly with bamboo shoots. And, I still remembered my auntie’s delicious Hakka food bamboo shoots braised with pork belly.

What are the ingredients for braised bamboo shoots?

This braised bamboo shoots recipe has a few ingredients: sesame oil, dark soy sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, brown sugar, bamboo shoots and water. However, when I eat it, I like to dip with homemade chili oil because it gives more flavor!
