    White Rabbit Candy Ice Cream

    White rabbit candy ice cream (大白兔糖雪糕) is very popular in California. This easy homemade version of white rabbit candy ice cream recipe only use three simple ingredients.

    What is white rabbit candy ice cream (大白兔糖雪糕)?

    White rabbit candy ice cream is very popular and big hit in Los Angeles, California since February 2019. Wanderlust Creamery in California use the creamy white rabbit candy, most of Asians childhood milk candy, to make ice cream. And, they sold out very fast every day.

    We don’t have any stores nearby sell white rabbit candy ice cream. Therefore, I decided to make our own at home with three simple ingredients.

    I am glad I introduced one of my favorite childhood candies to my children and they enjoyed it a lot, especially with this the new homemade white rabbit candy ice cream. And, I hope you like this recipe too. 

    What is white rabbit candy?

    Creamy white rabbit candy originated in Shanghai, China since 1943. At first, the milk candies were packaged in red Mickey Mouse.

    Later on, it changed into a rabbit logo and with blue, red and white colors. White rabbit candy is most of people childhood candy not only its creamy, sweet and milky, but also it’s very special that it has a very thin piece of edible rice paper wrapped around the candy.

    The rice paper melts in the mouth. Also, it was my favorite thing to eat white rabbit candy when I was a kid.

    How to make white rabbit ice cream?

    Homemade white rabbit candy ice cream is very simple, easy and delicious treat. This recipe I only use three simple ingredients: white rabbit candies, milk, and heavy whipped cream to make white rabbit candy ice cream.

    Cooking tips for white rabbit candy ice cream:

    • Melt the white rabbit candies with milk in microwave for around 1.5 minutes. I suggest to do 30 seconds first and stir it and add more seconds until all candies are melted. Make sure to watch it carefully when melting the candies because you can stop the microwave if you see it’s overflowing. Next, stir it and mix well.
    • Use an electric mixer to whip the cream until it’s thick, but don’t over whipped it. After that, mix the melted candies and whipped cream, then freeze it for 6-8 hours.
    • Depends on how sweet the ice cream you want. You can add more white rabbit candies if you want sweeter.

    Can you eat the rice paper on white rabbit candy?

    Yes, you can eat the thin transparent rice paper. It will dissolve on your tongue.

    What is white rabbit candy taste like?

    It taste like condense milk candy, but little bit hard.

    Ingredients

    • 30 pieces White rabbit candies Depends how sweet you want the ice cream
    • 1 cup Heavy whipping cream
    • ½

      cup

      Milk

      (I used 2 %, but you can use whole milk)

    Instructions

    • Pour the mixture into a container and freeze it for at least 6-8 hours. The best result is to freeze it over night.
