Taro Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup Milk (2% fat)
  • cup Taro boba powder
  • ½ cup Sweet condensed milk (I used fat free)

Instructions

  • Put ½ cup of 2% fat milk in a glass container and warm it in the microwave for 30-45 seconds.
  • After that, add ⅓ cup of taro boba powder into the warm milk. Mix it well.
  • Next, pour ½ cup of sweet condensed milk into the taro powder mixture.
  • Stir and mix it well. Let it set aside and cool down. (If you want to speed up the process of cooling off, put the mixture into an ice bath.)
  • In the meanwhile, pour 1 cup of heavy whipping cream into a mixing bowl.
  • Beat the cream until it thickens.
  • The following step, pour the taro mixture from step 4 into the whipped cream.
  • Mix the taro mixture and whipped cream.
  • After, pour the mixture from step 8 into another container and cover with a plastic wrap. Freeze it for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Lastly, remove the plastic wrapper after freezing for 8 hours. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes before scooping the ice cream out.

Cooking tips for how to make taro ice cream:

  • Warm milk in the microwave for 30-45 seconds, add taro boba powder and sweet condensed milk. Mix it well and let it cool down.
  • Beat the heavy whipping cream until it thickens. 
  • Pour taro powder mixture with heavy whipping cream and mix it well. 
  • Cove with a plastic wrap and freeze it for 8 hours or overnight. 
  • After freezing, take out the taro ice cream for 1-2 minutes before scooping out.
